At 16 years old and 9 years of ownership I decided to refresh the interior.  Originally I was going to just redo the carpet as I had purchased factory carpet for the raised rear deck when I did the audioupgrades.  When I saw how nice the factory carpet was new, it really made the rest of the carpet look old and grungy.  So I started pulling out seats and interior parts and decided do go a little further.

When I purchased the car I knew that someone had redyed the leather.... and the color was a little off.  It was a bad dye job to say the least and the years had not been kind to it.  So I decided to redo the seats and door panels to start, as the whole interior had been sprayed with some oil based dye which was more like paint.

I also decided to find some sport seats.  Since I had to recover what I had, I figured I may as well recover sport seats.

Since my interior is a mix of cashmere leather & carpet, and mahogany leather, I decided to havc the new seat covers done in cashmere leather with mahogany piping.

I started by tearing down the seats to the frames, being careful not to tear the foam.  There are tons of hogrings holding the leather and the foam to the frames of the seats.  There is also liberal amounts of sprayed on adhesive.

Here is  the passenger seat back frame.  This is a comfort seat.

Here is the sport seatback frame:

The parts are virtually identical except the sport seat has a loop of steel welded on to support the bolsters.  I'm just going to swap over the electrics on the seat backs....

The lower seat frames are a bit more complicated so I have taken a series of pictures to show the differences.  Here is the comfort seat outboard bolster:

And here you can see the bar that is welded on to make them sport seats:

Here is the comfort seat inboard bolster:

And below you can see that they just used a different bar to make them sport seats.

These sport seats were from a 944 or 911, & interestingly enough the seat foams have 928 part numbers as do the plastic hinge covers.  The seat frames are 944 part numbers.

I'm going to have to cut the bars off the sport seats and weld them onto my comfort seats.  The later seats with more electrics would be quite a job to move it all over to the sport seats, but I think it could be done.

I will add more pics of the foam pieces later as I have time.
